In this project, I digitally analyze Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, the narrative of an enslaved woman named Harriet Jacobs. The user takes a journey from Amherst, MA into Jacobs’ garret, during which the user encounters aspects of her life and experience that proved formative and troubling. From the garret the user travels back out into outer space, exploring how Jacobs was able to ultimately achieve freedom.
